The plot of the novel:

During the disintegration of Yugoslavia, The Thrombus in the body of the midfielder of a football team (the main character in the novel), as a metaphor for neglected and underestimated danger for both the human body and the state, is the peril which will eventually bring both the man and state to self destruction.

The complete story in The Thrombus takes place in merely three hours and six minutes. The novel has a complex structure with chapters devoted to various locations (Belgrade, Dubrovnik and Skopje) and pursues The Thrombus minute by minute in its development, growth and threat to human recklessness, both personal and social.

The story is set in the years of the disintegration of former Yugoslavia. The overall social corrosion at the time deeply affected the field of sport which went through convulsive moments with the people who understand sport as a metaphor of health, competition and honesty. Unfortunately, The Thrombus reflects the opposite, the dismal manipulations with people, destruction of people’s lives and their surroundings.
